Modernizing VM/CMS Applications
VM/CMS used to be a sophisticated and powerful environment both for development and production – back in the 1970s and 1980s.
Several companies kept on using VM/CMS even after z/OS or z/VSE was made their primary operating environment.
VM/CMS applications issue VM/CMS and CP commands. They “think” CMS, hence when it comes to replacing VM, the program logic will be difficult and expensive to change.
The Eligo framework was developed to
- allow a swift and low-risk transformation of VM/CMS applications towards Linux or
- make these applications runnable on z/OS or z/VSE
